Parental Poignancy, Home Videos and Fiddler on the Roof

The musical "Fiddler on the Roof" always evokes in me strong parental emotions. Seeing a stage version last saturday night with my wife and one of our daughters, 23 year old Brittany, was no exception, especially after having viewed home videos of Brittany and sister, Lisa, as little girls dancing and prancing on the beach in Lake Tahoe during an annual family vacation. Their beauty and joyfulness were as majestic as the shimmering lake itself!

Then to see and hear the great actor, Topol, play the beleagured daddy, Tevye, was almost more than this proud papa could take. I cried throughout the excellent performance and especially during the singing of "Sunrise, Sunset."

  1. I've seen Fiddler on the Roof two times. I really enjoyed the show. Last year I got a cheap ticket and I went, it was really a great show. I will go see it for the third time.
